What to do this weekend?

  • Take a stroll over to the Winter Farmer’s Market at the Norfield Grange; 12 Good Hill Road Weston, CT. It’s a ‘outdoor/ indoor farmers market with farm fresh seasonal produce and herbs, jams, jellies, honey, maple syrup, cheese and yogurt, eggs, beef and pork, poultry, seafood, baked goods, live plants, soap and body products, gift ideas, and more.’ Take a drive down on Saturdays, November 12 to June 9, 10:00am to 2:00pm.   • Also on Saturday at 11:30 am, stop down at the La Vita Gustosa at 9 Main St, East Haddam for a uniquely delicious lunch featuring an array of hot chowders freshly made by area restaurant chefs! Just $10 for adults & $5 for children lets tasters receive a commemorative chowder mug and a sample of all the yummy chowders. During the cook-off, a business expo will take place at the Gelston House. Are business will be showcasing their goods & services, offering coupons, raffles, samples & information.

 

  • On Sunday the 24th at 7pm, check out the Sea Tea Improv comedy team at City Steam Brewery’s Brew Ha Ha Comedy Club, 942 Main St. Hartford. ‘Sea Tea Improv spins your weirdest and wildest thoughts into the kinds of scenes, games, and songs you’ve seen onWhose Line is it Anyway?Wild n’ Out, and Drew Carey’s Improv-A-Ganza. Every Sea Tea Improv show is invented entirely on the spot, so no two shows are ever the same.’

 

  • Your kids will LOVE the 8th annual Touch A Truck at Coleytown Elementary School, 65 Easton Road in Westport. For just $20 per family, your kids will be amazed by a fleet of construction trucks, emergency vehicles, including a fire engine, ambulance, giant tow truck, tractor-trailer, classic cars, and a swat team vehicle! Other cool attractions include the ‘Melissa & Doug’ tent which offers activities & giveaways, a train ride for kids called ‘The Roaming Railroad’, a bounce house & face painting. Food & beverages will be available from JR’s Weenie Mobile, Naples restaurant truck & Skips Ice Cream Co. Best of all, all proceeds benefit the Westport Weston Cooperative Nursery School!

 

  • Last but not least, if you’re a nature lover, stroll over to the Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center at 10 Deerfield Rd. Ansonia, CT for a Ranger-guided hike through the park’s trail system. It should be a beautiful day for a hike!
